Join Jess and follow in the footsteps of Kings

LAUNCHING SOON

Join Jess this Summer and follow in the footsteps of Kings and see amazing historic sites across Fife come to life with our new Augmented Reality app.

Launching 12th July, In the Footsteps of Kings, is a free app, which will bring the area’s rich history to life, giving visitors of all ages the opportunity to interact with characters and take part in a number of fun activities tailored to each location. Kids can try their hand at firing a cannon from Ravenscraig Castle out to a pirate boat on the Forth or play tennis with Mary Queen of Scots’ ghosts at Falkland Palace!

Other historic sites on the trail include Aberdour Castle, Markinch Church, Lochore Castle and Falkland Estate.

Where will I find the activation panels?

  • Ravenscraig Castle - Cross the drawbridge and you'll find the panel looking out across the Forth
  • Lochore Castle - As you enter Lochore Meadows, Lochore Castle is situated on the left and the panel is just in front of the castle
  • Falkland Palace - The panel can be found inside the main gates, so please note this one can only be accessed during opening hours
  • Falkland Estate - There are 5 activation panels throughout the Estate. Check the Interpretation panel by the main car park for details.
  • Aberdour Castle - The panel will be situated in front of the castle near visible from the car park. COMING LATER IN JULY

The free app is being developed by British Augmented Reality company AliveLab who create the Mardles range of products specifically for kids.

Please note, this app may not fully function on older generation phones.
